The purpose of Tourism Management Department is to lead the students all their life long, to represent them a life oriented education and prepare them to tourism sector environment.
The language of education in Tourism Management Department is in English. Compulsorily; one of the German, Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian and Portuguese languages are offered as language courses. Besides, one of these is also offered as an elective third foreign language course.
Within the concept of student exchange; Erasmus offers the chance of studying abroad from 6 to 12 months. As being the only university representing Turkey in European Network of University Colleges in Tourism (ACCEPT) organisation, Department of Tourism Management enables students to attend the ACEEPT project weeks that is held in diverse countries, for instance in Switzerland in 2014.
The growing and developing service sector bring out the necessity of qualified staff’s employment. The education of Tourism Management Department is based on encouraging students to be dynamic, good communication skilled, entrepreneur and well educated, in the context of theoretical and practical courses. On the other hand students are offered to have economics, business and laws courses. in this manner Yasar University enables students to gain a broader perspective in the field.
Educational system is enriched with conference and seminars which are building a bridge between university and the tourism sector. This enrichment results with the increasing awareness, ability of creating a social network and gaining a different aspect for students. As experience is a key factor for job skills, especially in tourism sector, practical courses are carried out in internationally preferred hotels such as; Renaissance Otel İzmir, Swissotel Efes, Movenpick Hotels. Internship is also obligatory for 60 days which is considered to provide detailed information and relevant experience in the tourism sector.
